I paint nature, because there’s something universally healing about "contemplating the beauty of the earth." ~Rachel Carson
I work in oil on canvas or linen to create emotive, lush, and richly textured plein air and studio-generated paintings. I choose to saturate color to symbolize the visceral tactility of nostalgia and the feeling of being alive despite any adversity.
I create design-based drawings by incorporating patterns found in nature (ex: elements of the Fibonacci spiral/sequence) into traditional aesthetics to create visual metaphors and poetry. I work primarily in graphite and ink on smooth Bristol plate paper with subject matter that includes the human form, nature, items from antiquity, and everyday objects.
